What is A2P 10DLC and why did my texts stop
Why business texts get filtered in 2026 — and the registration path that gets them delivering again, step by step.
The question
What is A2P 10DLC?
A2P 10DLC is the system United States mobile carriers require for business texting sent over regular 10-digit local numbers. Every brand and campaign must be registered and approved before traffic gets clean delivery, and the carriers expect each submission to carry a live website, a privacy policy and terms.

The symptom
Why your texts stopped delivering
When a business's texts quietly stop arriving, the usual cause is traffic the carriers see as unregistered or poorly registered: the brand registration lapsed or mismatched, the campaign description failed review, or volume and content drifted from what was approved. The carriers filter that traffic aggressively, because the same channel carries spam they are contractually bound to block.
The fix is rarely a new provider — it is a proper registration. That is the work behind our carrier-registered texting setup: your brand and campaigns registered correctly the first time, with the opt-in language, privacy policy and terms the review looks for already in place.
To confirm the diagnosis, run the two-minute check: send a test from the number in question to a phone on a different carrier, then check your messaging provider's delivery logs — filtered messages show as undelivered or accepted-discarded, which is the registration problem announcing itself.
The paperwork
What registration asks for
Come to the table with five things and the review goes smoothly: your legal business name and EIN — sole proprietors without an EIN register as a Sole Proprietor Brand, so the path exists for everyone; a live website; a published privacy policy; published terms that include your texting program rules; and a plain description of what your texts say and who they go to.
The carriers' guidance says campaigns submitted with the policy and terms in place are more likely to pass review the first time — which is exactly why the two pages this site carries are written the way they are.

The clock
How long approval takes
Registration timing varies with carrier review queues, and the reliable lever on both the wait and the outcome is preparation: a submission that is complete, consistent and review-ready the first time.
While the review runs, the rest of the system keeps building: the CRM inbox, the follow-up flows and the booking calendar come online, so the day the number is approved, the texts land into a machine that already knows what to do with the replies.
Owners who register in-house most often trip on consistency: the brand name on the registration matching the website, the website matching the privacy policy, the policy matching the campaign description. That consistency is exactly what a review checks, and it is what we prepare before anything is submitted. The upside compounds the same way: a clean first submission today is the reason next month's campaign sails through.
The road rules
The rules after you are registered
Registration is the license; the road rules keep it. Text only people who opted in. Honor STOP automatically and suppress future messages. Answer HELP with a real support contact. Disclose that message and data rates may apply, state that frequency varies, and keep opt-in data for your use alone — never shared with third parties for their own marketing. Carriers, for their part, are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Those five rules are printed in full on our texting terms page, ready for your own registration — and the free audit will tell you exactly where your current setup stands against them.
